Sheltered in the Quiberon Bay, Carnac is known worldwide for its alignments of menhirs and its 5 beaches of fine sand. Megalithic site: Enjoy the surprise you get when you go exploring the countless menhirs, dolmens and burial mounds. The megalithic architecture still retains a share of mystery and impresses visitors. There are around 3000 menhirs recorded in Carnac.

The Prehistory Museum goes back over the evolution of man and the different civilizations of the region with more than 600 objects coming from around a hundred archaeological sites in the Morbihan.

St Cornély Church is consecrated to this Saint, protector of horned animals. There are 750 m2 of decorated panelled vaults.

Saint Colomban is a superb and picturesque ancient fishing village where granit stone built houses surround a beautiful 16th century chapel.

The Pô headland is charming both at high and low tide. As it no longer has any port activities, it now has several oysters producing farm. You can taste or take away excellent oysters and other seafood from this place.

FACING SOUTH INTO THE OCEAN

The 5 Carnac beaches are completely sheltered and are enjoyed by all the family because of their soft sand, gentle slopes and invigorating crystal-clear water.

All summer:

Kids festival “Place aux Mômes” “Make rooms for the kids” every Tuesday at 6 p.m in the garden of the tourist information point.

July and August:
Open air film screening will be on offer after sunset.

August
Sand sculpture. Over several days, learn the techniques involved and make a large-scale sculpture.

From November 1st to 3rd 2008 The “oysters and chocolate” exhibition. On the menu are tasting sessions, talks and competitions.

All year round:
Exhibitions in the Casino.



EUROCAT - From April 1st to 4th May

Created in 1987 and originally called "epreuve par cat", this event has evolved year in year out to become EUROCAT. Major French event and 2nd European event. This sports catamaran competition is a grand show counting 400 competitors representing 30 nations. Gathered round banana shaped courses, off the beach, the event draws in a lot of onlookers eager to see novices taking on professionals and sailing champions. The key event of Eurocat is the course round Houat Island, a tough challenge for catamaran lovers. The Eurocat Games Trophy, created for the 12 finalists on F18 catamarans and 4 guests stars of the sailing world, competing amongst themselves providing a fantastic show.
